How to winterize your Next Chapter Van:

Protect your van’s water system during freezing months.

Winterizing Steps:

  • Drain the Fresh Water Tank

Empty the fresh water tank by running the shower out the back. Shut off the water pump when it runs dry.  Allow all water to flow out completely.

  • Shut Off the Tank Valve

Turn the water valve on the tank to the OFF position to prevent flow.

  • Disconnect Braided Hoses (Sinks & Shower)

Under each sink and at the shower, disconnect the braided water lines from the faucet connections. Leave the fittings open.

  • Drain the Hot Water Tank

Disconnect the hot and cold water lines from the water heater. You may turn on the water pump to force the rest of the water out of the hot water tank.  Use a pan or hose to catch draining water and avoid spills.

  • Disconnect Water Pump Lines

Disconnect both the inlet and outlet connections on the water pump. Allow all water to drain from the lines.

  • Leave Connections Open

Keep all disconnected fittings and hoses open during the winter. This allows any remaining moisture to evaporate and prevents pressure build-up.

  • Done! Your Next Chapter Van is winter-ready!

Spring Reconnection & Testing

  • Reconnect All Lines

Reattach braided hoses at sinks and the shower. Reconnect hot and cold lines on the water heater. Reconnect inlet and outlet lines on the water pump. Turn the fresh water tank valve back ON.

  • Fill and Test

Use the onboard pump or connect to city water to pressurize the system. Check each fitting for leaks.

IMPORTANT:

Do not over-tighten fittings — tighten just enough to stop leaks. Always thread fittings by hand first to avoid cross-threading.
